Position: RMS Advisor (Occupational Hygiene)
Working in partnership with UBC departments, the position is responsible for developing, promoting, implementing, Campus-wide occupational hygiene, and occupational safety programs. Meets with University Senior Administration, Heads and Senior Managers of Faculties/Departments, faculty, and staff to provide direction on hygiene and safety issues.
Lead responsibilities include supervising, advising and consulting with all levels of University administration, regulatory agencies and relevant authorities, faculty and staff regarding issues related to accident and disease prevention. Responsible for the implementation and delivery of occupational hygiene, and safety programs for the University.
Major responsibilities include investigation and evaluation of risks from physical, chemical and biological exposures to individuals and the University community in order to protect their health and well-being and minimizing risks from occupational and environmental hazards through their recognition, evaluation and control. The position acts as the primary resource in industrial hygiene for UBC on applicable OH&S federal, provincial and municipal regulations and UBC policies, and for assisting University departments to conform to these criteria.
